Maintenance

The overwhelming majority of rental housing owners pro-actively and diligently maintain their property’s interiors, exteriors, common areas, and grounds (see TAA Lease paragraph 31).

If you are aware of maintenance issues either within your home or else on the property, immediately notify the property owner-operator in writing.

If the issue is an emergency or health/safety issue, in addition to the owner-operator, immediately contact the appropriate authorities (fire department, water department, etc.).

If the problem occurs outside of normal business hours, most owners – operators provide a 24-hour emergency maintenance number to be used when on-site staff is unavailable.

Maintenance concerns will customarily be resolved in a timely fashion depending on the nature and severity of the problem.

In your opinion, if a maintenance issue has not been resolved in a timely manner, your are encouraged to contact the property owner or operator. If you are still not satisfied, you may contact the Texas Tenants Union at (214) 823-2733 or code compliance department for the city where your home is located.
