2008 hd-CD Faculty

Casey Board, CAM, NAAEI Faculty Community Director, Rockwood Capital. She brings to the classroom onsite experience and an energetic teaching style. She has extensive experience of the multi-housing industry in different capacities from working on-site, assisting middle management, and training and marketing for a large firm with over 31,000 units in the United States. She is a graduate of the NAAEI Advanced Instructor Training program. She was an active volunteer at AATC serving on numerous committees (golf, community service, trade show) as well as chairing the career development committee before joining the staff at AATC. Participants from her seminars will tell you that she is easy to relate to and


Mychelle Burns, Director of Marketing for Verde Apartments. She has over seven years of sales and marketing experience that include multifamily, staffing and software support.  In her former position, she supported the marketing efforts of both Texas and California assets. Mychelle is active on the AATC career development committee and the AAGD education committee.


Char Burnside-Rice, CAPS,ARM is a Regional Vice President for Sunchase American. Char’s portfolio covers Texas and Tennessee. In her 23 years of property management experience she has worked for AIMCO, AMLI Residential, and Mid-America Apartments. Her experience includes lease up communities, mixed use, tax credit, and all classes (A, B, and C). Char is very active in both AATC and AAGD. For AATC she serves as a CAM instructor, serves on the Lone Star Award Committee and is a graduate of the AATC Lyceum program. She started her Thinkink facilitator role in 2007 where she truly made magic happen. She has chaired the AAGD Education Committee and in 2006, she received the AAGD CAPS student of the year. In 2007, she participated in the NAA Lyceum program and NAA education conference committee. In 2005, Char received the NAA Professional Designate of the Year award. Char enjoys every aspect of this crazy business, but mostly enjoys watching the growth and successes of her team members.


Jennifer Campbell-Brown, is the Training Coordinator for Pace Realty. Prior to Pace, Jennifer worked for Equity Residential where she wore many hats. (Sparky likes hats, too!) She was a property manager, assistant manager, mentor and field trainer. Her passion for training is what led her to Pace.


Brenda Carpenter, CAS candidate, Executive Vice President of Superior Floors, served as the 2005-2006 AATC Education Committee chair. At Superior, she oversees all operations and sales for the company. Prior to joining the vendor side, Brenda spent more than 17 years on the management side on the industry with her last position being regional vice president of the southwest region for AMLI Residential. Brenda is a dynamic trainer who can motivate even the hardest to motivate.


Lisa Clark, CAM, CAPS, is District Manager for United Dominion Residential. She is a 2006 graduate of AATCs Leadership Lyceum program. She is an active volunteer serving on the Lyceum and Lone Star Awards committees. She has been facilitator for AATC’s 2006 & 2007 ThinkLink conferences, she trains CAM and serves on the board of directors. If you ask Lisa’s team about her, they smile and say “She’s the best!!”


Larry Duncan, CAS, CAPS Emeritus, CAMT II, of Larry Duncan Consutling,is actively involved with AATC. Larry Duncan is our most recent Jerry Earnhart Distinguished Award recipient. Larry has chaired almost every committee at the Apartments Associations. He currently chairs the Community Service committee.

Larry is a graduate of the NAA Advanced Instructor Training program. he is a blast to know and you will learn so much from just talking with Larry. Thank you Larry for taking the time to teach CAM Maintenance.


Joanna Ellis, CAM, CAPS, President, Ellis Property Management Services. Ms. Ellis directs the company's nationwide mystery shopping services, currently averaging 3000 shops per month. She has assisted in the design of custom shopping reports for more than 100 companies. Under her direction, EPMS has established itself as the premier apartment shopping company in the nation. Current clients include most major apartment developers, management companies, and REITs. Having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Texas A&M in 1983, Ms. Ellis has spent more than 20 years in the multifamily industry, and she now holds both the Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) and Certified Apartment Property Supervisor (CAPS) designations from the National Apartment Association. She is also a licensed Texas Real Estate Agent.



Angela Fox, BH Management, has been a Regional Marketing Specialist for BH Management Services, for the past two years overseeing marketing efforts at approximately 46 communities across the nation.  Prior to establishing her marketing career, Angela spent 11 years on site, nine as a manager.  Specializing in the development of marketing programs for individual sites as well as company wide campaigns, Angela also trains employees on improving their leasing and marketing skills.  Armed with an outgoing personality and a quirky humor, Angela makes a memorable and lasting impression on everyone she meets.


David Fritsche is General Counsel to the San Antonio Apartment Association and co-general counsel to the San Antonio Housing Authority for landlord/tenant matters. He has served on the faculty of the Texas Justice Court Training Center for three years teaching landlord/tenant law, evictions and the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to Justices of the Peace and JP personnel.


Nadeen Green, Senior Counsel: For Rent Media Solutions. Nadeen Green has been an attorney since 1979 and has been teaching Fair Housing law to the multi-family housing industry since the Fair Housing Amendments Act went into effect in 1989. Her many programs have been presented to apartment management companies and state and local apartment associations nationwide, and she has been asked to speak several times for the National Apartment Association and Multi-Housing World annual conventions. She also writes "reader-friendly" articles on Fair Housing which are made available throughout the industry. Nadeen is proud to be Senior Counsel with For Rent Magazine® which is published nationwide and which also offers to the industry its "LEADS™ Management System - Powered By Who's Calling" tracking and Internet opportunities.

As past president and long-time board member of her local bar association, Nadeen has had the opportunity to serve as a judge for mock trials and has taught high school students about career options in law.


Katrina Giries began her career in Boston, Massachusetts working for Olsten Staffing Services, the largest staffing firm in the world.  She managed the Downtown Boston Branch and was responsible for many high profile accounts including John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance.  She returned to Texas to manage several other recruiting programs including Fossil and AMLI Residential. At AMLI Residential, Katrina created a national recruiting program including many new processes, vendor sourcing, internet and college recruitment strategies.  She worked closely with the management team to identify and recruit the right talent and developed recruitment tools still in use today. Upon her departure from AMLI, Giries founded Tuerian, LLC on the belief that recruitment is one of the most important decisions a company can make. She is able to target the top talent in each market creating recruitment solutions for Property Management companies of all sizes.  She successfully places candidates ranging from regional managers to executive positions in several major markets across the Unites States. 


Gregory Ann Goldrick, NALP, is the Marketing Director for Simpson Property Group in Dallas. Her enthusiastic approach to multifamily training is her passion. She formerly served as the director of marketing and training for Archon Residential. She is a past chair of AATC’s education committee, and serves on the Career Development committee. Gregory has taught NALP, CAM, CAPS and many other great topics at AATC and AAGD. She has been the face of both Thinklink Brainstorming Conferences by co-hosting 2006 and leading the group in 2007! Gregory is passionate about everything she does.


Susan Goff, NALP, Manager, Milestone Management. Susan started in the business through a leasing class at a temporary agency. As she says "the rest is history". After joining the team at Milestone Management she took her career to the next level by becoming an NALP graduate. Her dedication and passion for seeing others grows led her to begin teaching classes at AATC. Students say her class say she is a natural and makes the class fun.


Jeff Hass, NALP, CAM, District Manager, Devonshire. Jeff's creative mind and contagious energy is evident in all he does. From Community Director to Vice President of Training, Jeff's knowledge in marketing, managing and leading is extensive and impressive.


Melissa Boland, Gables. Melissa brings many years in the industry from onsite to vendor. After 5 years with Simpson Property Group Melissa became a regional trainer with BH Management. She traveled the nation training the basics to specialty courses. Melissa currently serves on the AATC Career Development Committee.


Deanna Moore, apartments.com, Deanna has over fifteen years of extensive experience in the property management industry with a focus in marketing and education. Prior to Apartments.com, she was the Director of Marketing & Education for a regional management company with a diversified portfolio including conventional, tax credit, senior and student assets. Prior to that, she spent several years as the Director of Marketing for a Dallas based Internet Service Provider focused on delivering high speed internet to multi-family communities nation wide. She also has a strong skill set in the development of property Websites, communications and customer service. Since joining Apartments.com Deanna has been working with clients and prospects in the DFW area to increase their online advertising return on investment, while providing effective training to help lower their cost-per-lease.


Karen Nelson, in 2007, was selected as the Houston Apartment Association 2007 Marketing/Training Director of the Year and she also completed the NAA Advanced Instructor Training. She is currently the Marketing Specialist for UDR Texas and has been in the industry since 2002, working in both conventional and affordable housing. Prior to the apartment industry, Karen was Director of Training for Belmont Village Assisted Living Communities and Senior Facilitator of Business Seminars and Managing Computer Instructor with the Disney Institute. In addition, Karen spent 10 years in the public school systems coordinating technology, curriculum and teaching. She has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida, and a Bachelors Degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University.


Patti Rodriquez, Regional Training Director, Camden Property Trust. Patti is has been the education coordinator for Camden Realty Trust since 2002. She began her career as a leasing consultant in 1994. She served as a senior leasing consultant with Post Properties for three years and was promoted to assistant manager. Patti also serves as Post's director of recruitment for three years before becoming the operations manager for Post Properties Corporate Housing. Patti is currently involved in AATCs education committee.



Christy Sanchez, District Specialist, Riverstone Residential. is a District Specialist and has 12 years of experience in the multi-family housing industry. She began her career with Trammel Crow Residential Services and as a leasing consultant and excelled from there going on to be a Senior Property Manager over several communities. She has almost 11 years on-site including 8 years as Property Manager. She formally served as a District Trainer for Riverstone Residential Group serving Texas and Louisiana. Christy taught all Achiever Academy Classes including basic and advanced leasing classes, one-on-one specialized coaching and lease-up training. She continues to instruct as an ACE Trainer in Dallas for Riverstone. Christy has a passion for the industry and loves to share her experience and excitement for multi-family housing in the classroom.


Sarah Turner, NALP, is AATC's Director of Career Development. She's been on the vendor side and the property management side of the business. She brings to the classroom onsite experience and an energetic teaching style. She has extensive experience of the multi-housing industry in different capacities from working on-site, assisting middle management, and training and marketing for a large firm with over 31,000 units in the United States. She is a graduate of the NAAEI Advanced Instructor Training program. She was an active volunteer at AATC serving on numerous committees (golf, community service, trade show) as well as chairing the career development committee before joining the staff at AATC. Sarah was named 2007 AATC Vendor of the Year.  Participants from her seminars will tell you that she is easy to relate to and can make learning even the most basic concepts fun.


 

Sue Weston, CAM, CAPS, is Regional Education Director for Pinnacle. She is responsible for education, staff development and implementing marketing strategies throughout the Central Region.­­­­ Susan has served as the National Apartment Association Director of Education where she was responsible for the national designation programs and association education initiatives. Susan has worked in executive level capacity with Archon Residential Management and Walden. Susan has 25 years experience in the property management industry. She has been an active member of and volunteer for the Tarrant County, Dallas, and Texas Apartment Associations. She is a member of the NAA Education Institute faculty, completing its Advanced Instructor training program in 2006. She is a licensed Texas Real Estate Broker.


Pat Wiley, VP of Education, Alliance Residential. Vice President of Education, joined Alliance in March, 2001. She is one of two educators responsible for the training and management development of all Alliance team members, employing an Alliance University curriculum of thirty diversified courses. These classes range from orientation of new team members, software instruction and implementation to management development and leadership programs. Pat earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio and has twenty nine years experience in professional property management. She is very involved in her local apartment associations and a frequent instructor and speaker for them. She has been honored with several recognition awards, including Alliance Most Valuable Player-2002, Dallas Apartment Association Legend of Education-2004, Alliance Executive Award of Excellence-2006, and Alliance Most Valuable Player-2007. She is especially proud of her designation as an Advanced Instructor on the faculty of the National Apartment Association Education Institute. Pat’s passion is training others to be the best they can be and watching them grow into successful, productive team members.
