AATC Advocacy

AATC’s advocacy program is a nationally recognized endeavor having received the American Society of Association Executives’ (ASAE) prestigious Excellence in Government Affairs award and the National Apartment Association’s (NAA) Government Affairs Paragon award.

AATC actively advocates on behalf of its members at the local, state, and federal government levels. AATC works to implement, amend, mediate, and oppose government initiatives that impact your bottom-line.

AATC’s Government Affairs Committee (GAC) is the primary entity for planning and executing the Association’s advocacy efforts. GAC membership is open to all AATC members with an interest in public policy issues that impact the industry.

AATC informs its membership about ongoing local, state, and federal legislative and regulatory activities through a monthly article in the Association’s magazine Dimensions; Executive Session eNewsletter; and, as needed, by email alerts.

AATC members actively participate in the Texas Apartment Association (TAA); National Apartment Association (NAA); and the National Multihousing Council (NMHC) – government affairs programs. AATC members annually attend the NAA Capitol Conference in Washington, D.C. and biennially attend the TAA Capitol Conference in Austin. AATC members currently serve on the Texas Apartment Association (TAA) legislative committee and political action committee.

AATC members and staff conduct ongoing meetings with local, state, and federal elected and career government officials. AATC periodically hosts industry forums and/or roundtable discussions with elected and high-ranking government officials (lunch, breakfast) on pertinent public policy issues that impact the Association’s members.

AATC members and staff currently serve on numerous municipal and state task forces and working groups including affordable housing; parolee reentry; crime stoppers; census, and appraisal reform.

AATC’s political action committee (PAC) contributes to candidates and measures on the state and local level. The Association’s officers are the PAC trustees. AATC conducts two annual golf tournaments to raise funds for the PAC.
